breast feeding, pedi pads and tucks...oh my!

so, tonight we stepped into our first parenting adventure...child birth classes!  we are attending our classes in a slightly different order than most, so we didn't walk in at the beginning.  instead, we walked into a discussion about post-natal care and caring for baby in the first weeks.  while others attending had several weeks to get comfortable with the discussions, it was slightly jarring for us.  and let's just say that the title of this post only scratched the surface!  we obviously want to do anything we can to be prepared for the baby, but discussing hemorrhoids with perfect strangers does more than make you squirm in your chair (no pun intended)!

i am now at the beginning of my 29th week.  my belly has begun to significantly change and jeff now calls it "another extremity" like i grew a third arm!  while i slept great through my second trimester, the third trimester has kicked into full swing and once again, sleep is just a distant memory!

i am incredibly fortunate to have amazing new friends that are throwing me a baby shower.  it is this saturday and i am fully excited!  i'm sure we are going to get way too much stuff and be slightly overwhelmed, but only in a good way!  we have already been so blessed and this is just is the beginning!

365 days

it's official...today marks one year of marriage.  almost to the hour at this point.  what a year it's been.  we've been busy, but so happy.

we decided this year we would write each other "love letters," detailing the past year of marriage.  we thought it would be a good way to document our past year.  our letters were both so different, but they were a perfect compliment to each other.  we spoke of why we loved each other and detailed important dates throughout the year.  we called today our lovefest...spending the day focusing solely on each other.  why is it that couples focus on each other so rarely?  do we really need a special day to tell our significant other that they are, in fact, significant?  we decided that this would be an annual tradition...writing our "love letters."

we talked a lot about the baby on board...who we have taken to calling kato mate (pronounced kah-toe mah-tay).  we are so looking forward to being parents.  as much as we cannot wait for this little guy to show his face, we are both so anxious about actually becoming parents (jeff being much more calm than amanda).

we also talked about writing letters to kato.  we think it will be a good way to tell him (eventually) what we went through as new parents.  we want all of the details to be accurate and writing them down is the only way to remember true details.

Welcome...

After much deliberation, we finally decided that it was time to start our own blog.  We wanted a place to share what was going on in our life and document the changes that are occurring in our family.  Our family will soon expand and we want to remember all of the details of the coming months.

We will try to post photos and updates as frequently as possible.
